THE POWER STATION WELCOME PACK
Whilst you are waiting for your login details to arrive, can we tempt you to support the project by buying a bundle of goodies?
You'll get a package with a Power Station 10 artwork in it (signed by us), a postcard from when we slept on our roof, a hand printed Bank Job DVD & a DVD from our first movie "How to Re-Establish a Vodka Empire" & our Bank Job book - usually all together these items would be £84 (inc VAT) plus postage, but if you buy them on this page, we're offering them for £42 (inc VAT and UK postage).
We are independent artists and activists, and all the proceeds of your investment will be used to help us build more Power Stations.
Our clients include prestigious collections like the V&A, The Fitzwilliam in Cambridge, MoMA, Museum of London, The Smithsonian and many more. But our core belief is that art should be for everyone which is why we create affordable and collectible work for everyone and not just those with the means.
MEET YOUR POWER STATION OPERATORS
LEARNING TO FIGHT THE ESTABLISHMENT
In all the years we’ve been filmmaking, making art and campaigning we’ve never had to work so hard against the clock to build scale and traction.
In 2019 we blew up £1.2m of high interest debt, arguing the banks who have increased the UK debt burden 25,000% since the 1970s were to blame for everyone being up to their eyeballs in personal debt. We wanted to show the issues around money creation and the explosion in personal debt. We got the message out there far and wide, and the BFI funded us in finishing our feature documentary Bank Job.
Now with the launch of POWER STATION we are exploring community solutions to the climate crisis and how the debt crisis is intertwined with this.
Other artists may be using their work to lament the climate crisis or to comment on it – but what we’re doing aims to provide a solution, one street at a time.
So why is meaningful action to avert the climate crisis proving so difficult, and why is Power Station different?
At least in part, this disaster has been unfolding because the advertising industry has been helping the oil companies spread false information. The fossil fuel industry has perpetrated a multi-decade, multibillion dollar disinformation, propaganda and lobbying campaign to delay climate action by confusing the public and policymakers about the climate crisis and its solutions. This has involved a remarkable array of ads – with headlines ranging from “Lies they tell our children” to “Oil pumps life” – seeking to convince the public that the climate crisis is not real, not human-made, not serious and not solvable. The campaign continues to this day.
WE CAN'T EAT MONEY!
But while insiders are profiting from the huge surge in oil and gas prices, in the long term we will all be paying the costs - and not just the financial costs - we have seen the floods, the wild fires, the break down in biodiversity. When our crops are failing, when wars are breaking out over our finite resources - what then will be the good of money? You can't eat it.
WHAT DOES WORK?
Community Owned Renewable Energy and Retrofit deployed at scale.
Who owns the sun? Who owns the wind? We all do! And they're very hard to privatise! And this solution is highly scalable. But to do that we need investment and to get that we need your support not just in terms of money, but also getting your voice and your moral support.
WHY ARE WE DIFFERENT?
The issue up till now is that community projects have been slow, they have been quiet - but what we're doing has embraced the punk element, we are sticking it to the man, and using Power Stations as an example of what the government could and should be doing. And doing it as loudly as we can!
It's positive, it's proactive, and it's in your face and catching on. As we are filmmaking, we share everything as we go. This means that the word is getting out in the press and more and more people are taking notice. Could this end up changing national policies and make an actual difference? Hell yes it could - and it's not just us saying it.
Who are our Power Station artworks not for?
Whilst we are all about building communities and bringing people together, we know we're not for everyone. To make a difference and build a brighter future for ourselves and generations to come, we need to take action. Therefore, we need our members to be:
People who want to learn and help us spread the word of Power Stations, as we cannot do this alone.
People who will support us to raise much-needed funds to keep the lights on and our projects on track.
People who want to build a more sustainable future for themselves and for generations to come by starting our planet on its journey of repair.
Sadly, if this does not light you up and inspire you, Power Station is probably not for you.
But if you're tired and frustrated of hearing the empty words of those in power, who seem oblivious to the plight of the planet and the ever-growing cost of living crisis then we might be the right thing for you! Who is allowing the energy companies to grow ever more powerful. It may be time for you to be the change and join us in our pledge to build a better future street by street.
